Ferdinand reacts as Man Utd terminate Chelsea’s target contract
Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, like many football pundits has reacted to the club’s decision to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract.
This comes as Man Utd on Tuesday evening parted ways with Ronaldo as they confirmed his contract had been terminated.
The Red Devils were forced to end Ronaldo’s deal following his two-part explosive interview with Piers Morgan last week.
The 37-year-old claimed he had been “betrayed” by Man United and cannot respect manager Erik ten Hag.
His comments led to the club making it clear that they would take action in a statement last week.
Man United and Ronaldo have now parted ways by “mutual consent”, and Ferdinand tweeted after the news broke that it is best for both parties.
He wrote: “Just seen the Cristiano news… best for both parties!”
Ronaldo, who had few months left on his contract will now have the chance to move to another club, with Chelsea being named the favourite destination.
