EPL: Lukaku’s future at Chelsea decided

The latest reports have confirmed that Belgium international Romelu Lukaku would not be leaving Chelsea after a clear-the-air meeting with manager Thomas Tuchel.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues forward accepted that his controversial interview with Sky Italia was a mistake.

Recall that in the interview, the Belgium striker had said he was unhappy at Stamford Bridge and would like to return to Inter Milan in the near future.

However, Lukaku, during the meeting with the Chelsea hierarchy, accepted that he should not have made the comments in the first place.

As the comments were what led to him being dropped from Chelsea’s squad during the 2-2 home draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

The sports revealed that it was accepted that Lukaku would not be committed to helping Chelsea reignite their Premier League title bid.

But a transfer away from Chelsea was not discussed as he will not be leaving the club this month or next summer.

Lukaku said he wanted to return to Stamford Bridge this summer and was not forced to rejoin the club.
