EPL: Brighton manager wants this Chelsea player benched
Brighton manager, Roberto De Zerbi, in a pre-match statement, revealed he expects Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to bench Mykhailo Mudryk when they meet on Saturday in the Premier League.
Mudryk has not impressed since arriving at Chelsea in a deal worth £89 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in the recent January transfer window.
So far the Ukrainian international has made 10 appearances with no goals for Chelsea.
However, despite his poor performance at Chelsea, De Zerbi has no doubts that the 22-year-old will come good at Stamford Bridge as he revealed he has a special relationship with him following the time they spent together at Shakhtar.
“Me and my staff have a special relationship [with Mudryk],” De Zerbi said at his pre-match press conference.
“He’s like a son to us. I hope he stays on the bench and doesn’t play, but I love him. We hope the best for him, from the next game.”
