Drogba hails Kepa after costly penalty miss
Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba has come to the defence of the club’s goalkeeper and Spain international Kepa Arrizabalaga after his costly penalty miss vs Liverpool on Sunday in the Carabao League final.
Kepa has been at the receiving end of massive criticisms on and off social media after he failed to score against the Reds during the penalty shootout.
The match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium was a difficult one as it ended in a goalless draw.
Towards the end of extra time, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, decided to bring in Kepa in place of Edouard Mendy when he saw the game would end on penalty shootouts.
However, Kepa, who had a reputation for saving penalties, failed to save 11 penalties he faced and went on to shoot over the bar and Liverpool won 11-10.
Kepa has since taken to his social media page to apologise to fans for his miss.
Drogba has also come to his defence as he retweeted the Tweet but with a comforting message. “Keep it up Kepa, my keeper, Chelsea FC.”
