Done Deal: Arsenal sign Timber from Ajax as 2nd summer signing
Arsenal have sealed their second summer signing as they finally unveiled Jurrien Timber as their newest player on Friday.
This comes as the Gunners completed Timber’s move from Ajax to Emirate Stadium.
The report via Sky Sports revealed the Gunners will pay an initial fee of just over £34million for the centre-back defender on a five-year deal, with the remaining £4million payable in performance-related add-ons.
Timber is Arsenal’s second signing of the summer after their £65million deal for Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
The Dutch star in a statement via Arsenal website expressed his excitement over his move to Emirates as he said:
‘I’ve always been a fan of Arsenal.’
“It was because of my brothers. They were always Arsenal fans, and I just loved seeing Arsenal play. They had big players, the way they played, the style. I just love the club.
“I had this from a young age, but my brothers kind of put that in me. I liked watching Robin van Persie of course, and Thierry Henry. They were my favourite players.”
Timber has more than 120 appearances for the Ajax first team in the past three years.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are expected to unveil Declan Rice as their next player.
