Chelsea have completed a deal to sign talented winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, addressing a key area of concern in their squad ahead of the new season.

The agreement, valued at around £55 million, is considered a major step forward in the club’s efforts to reinforce their attack under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

The Blues have already been busy this summer, bringing in Liam Delap from Ipswich Town before the Club World Cup. With question marks surrounding the futures of multiple wide players, including Mykhailo Mudryk—who is expected to serve a ban following FA charges—and the decision not to pursue a permanent deal for Jadon Sancho, Chelsea turned their attention to new options on the wing.

Jamie Gittens, highly rated for his pace, creativity, and attacking flair, fits the profile Maresca has been seeking. The 20-year-old impressed with Borussia Dortmund during their Club World Cup campaign and is now set to complete a medical on Saturday before signing a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

According to reliable sources Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs, the deal includes performance-related add-ons as part of the £55 million package.

This move could spell bad news for Manchester United, as Alejandro Garnacho’s name continues to be linked with a potential move away from Old Trafford. With Chelsea moving decisively in the market, United may find themselves under pressure if they cannot respond with strategic reinforcements of their own.
