Could this 18-year-old defender be a good replacement for Alonso and Palmieri at Chelsea
Chelsea under coach Frank Lampard have improved in terms of their defence when compared to the time of Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge and the Blues hope to keep it up that way.
The improvement in their defence was seen doing their faceoff with Tottenham Hotspurs led by their former manager, Jose Mourinho over the weekend with the game ending in a 0-0 draw.
A look at the match statistics showed that the Blues had more edged than Tottenham.
Chelsea hope to continue with such form as Lampard plans to keep building his team at Stamford Bridge.
With the reports linking the Blues left-backs, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri with moves away from the club, Chelsea are said to be monitoring RB Leipzig defender Matthew Bondswell as a potential replacement.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are keeping a tab on 18-year-old Bondswell, who is currently out on loan at Dordrecht.

Although Bondswell is yet to make a first-team appearance for Leipzig, he has, however, proved to be prospect following his impressive performance in the Dutch second tier this season.
According to the terms of his contract with RB Leipzig, Bondswell still has seven months which allows him time to discuss a possible transfer elsewhere at the beginning of 2021.
Chelsea could be one of his next destinations.
