Conte wants Chelsea striker at Tottenham
Chelsea former manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move to sign the Blues striker Romelu Lukaku to his new club Tottenham Hotspur.
The report claimed the Hotspurs are ready to make a move for Lukaku if Chelsea agrees to sell this summer.
The Belgian striker struggled a difficult return to Stamford Bridge after sealing a club-record £97.5m deal with the Italian club Inter Milan last summer, scoring just eight goals and failing to provide an assist in 26 Premier League appearances.
Lukaku is also close to the exit door at Stamford Bridge ever since his controversial interview in 2021 when he revealed his desire to return to San Siro after failing to settle on Thomas Tuchel’s side.
However, nothing happened during the January window which followed.
For the past few days since the end of this season, there have been reports linking Lukaku back to Italy.
A possible loan deal with a £20m fee has been discussed, but now Spurs are set to rival Inter for Lukaku’s signature in the coming weeks according to Calciomercato, who reports that Conte is keen on a reunion with his former striker.
Conte and Lukaku worked together as recently as the 2020-21 season at the San Siro, where they helped the Italian club win their first Scudetto in over a decade during which Lukaku scored 24 goals and registered 11 assists in 36 Serie A appearances.
The report claimed Conte wants to partner Lukaku with Harry Kane in the Spurs attack next season.
