Confirmed: Injury blow for Chelsea as Reece will be out for 8 weeks

Chelsea have suffered an injury blow as one of their key players Reece James will be out for eight weeks, which means he would not return to action for the Blues until after the World Cup in Qatar set to start November 20.

The statement concerning James’s injury via the Chelsea website read: “Following the knee injury sustained in our away match against AC Milan, Reece has received treatment from the Chelsea medical department and visited a specialist this weekend.

After consultation between all parties, Reece will now undergo a rehabilitation programme and is expected to be out for eight weeks.”

While James will be out of the Blues squad for eight weeks, there are doubts he would make it to the England national team for the world cup.

The reports revealed James himself isn’t giving up on the idea of playing in the world cup and has set himself an ambitious and very hopeful target.

Should he come back a lot sooner than expected, it might not be a smart move for him or for England manager Gareth Southgate to take him to Qatar.
