Chelsea’s pre-season tour: Maresca reacts to 2-2 draw Vs Wrexham
Chelsea have commenced their pre-season tour of the United States and it started with a Thursday game against Wrexham.
The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against Wrexham thanks to goals from Christian Nkunku while Lesley Ugochukwu scored a late equaliser for the west London side.
After the match, the Blues manager Enzo Maresca addressed the media as he shared his take on his team performance.
Maresca said that while the result is always important, he, however, thinks the most important thing was to judge the performance; especially after two weeks.
The manager stated that he was happy with the Blues performance in their first game.
Maresca also applauded Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana for their roles at the back as he described them as very important players.
He pointed out that they were not been regulars for the Blues in the last season which is why they need a boost, energy and he believed the 45 minutes they got against Wrexham will help both of regain their form.
Maresca also applauded the Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez while being unclear on whether the Blues will sign a new goalie before the summer transfer window closes.
Chelsea will face Celtic in the next match this weekend.
