Chelsea vs Luton: Why Kepa will remain a backup goalie
Chelsea returned to action on Sunday in the FA Cup as they hosted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had an early lead in the game thanks to Tammy Abraham who scored a double for his side in the first 20 minutes.
However, Luton Town would at the 36th-minute score a goal thanks to an effort from Jordan Clark who got a crucial touch on the ball to divert James’ low cross away.
Chelsea started Kepa Arrizabalaga but many think that it would have been better if they had played Willy Cabellero instead.
Luton’s full-back James Bree floated a cross into the penalty box from the right while Jordan Clark managed to get his foot to it for a low driven shot, which was aimed at Kepa. Many of the Blues fans thought Kepa should have saved the ball and kept a clean sheet during the match.
But it looks like Kepa is still in the habit of committing mistakes which could ruin Chelsea chances further if they continue to use him.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has made just five appearances, losing the No.1 spot to Edouard Mendy following a huge gaffe against Liverpool.
His latest performance could see his play chances reduce further.
