Chelsea to battle Man City for Brighton’s defender
One of the defenders on Chelsea’s target list is Marc Cucurella, who they hope to bring on board before the close of the summer transfer window.
However, they are faced with stiff competition from EPL champions Man City, who are also in the race for the Brighton defender.
The latest report has hinted that Chelsea are leading the race as they are in “advanced talks” to sign Cucurella from Brighton.
Man City considers Cucurella as a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal this summer.
The report revealed the Citizens have already seen a £30m bid rejected by the Seagulls, who value their versatile left-back at £50m.
This gave an opportunity for Chelsea to join the race for the defender, and the Daily Mail reports a deal is being worked out.
However, Cucurella favours a move to Man City where he prefers to work under Pep Guardiola.
This means Chelsea will have to convince him to move to west London even if they are able to meet Brighton’s valuation.
The report revealed Chelsea are willing to add their centre half Levi Colwill to the negotiation to convince the Seagulls.
