Chelsea target Ecuador’s defender

With a few days to the start of the January transfer window, Chelsea have been linked with moves for new players.

A recent report by popular football expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Chelsea’s scouts are monitoring Ecuador defender Piero Hincapie, who plays his club football with German side Bayer Leverkusen.

While there were rumours of the link, Romano in the Daily Briefing exclusively for CaughtOffside explained that Hincapie is just another player being scouted by Chelsea and there is nothing advanced or moving for the player right now. It could be one to keep an eye on though.

Romano said: “Piero Hincapie has been scouted by many important clubs including Chelsea, Inter, Napoli, Tottenham and Spanish clubs too.

“But it’s about scouting and following the player, there’s nothing advanced about negotiations at this stage. He’s a very good, interesting centre-back and he has a chance to move in 2023.”
