Chelsea suffer transfer blow as target prefers to join PSG
Barely a few hours to the end of the January transfer window, Chelsea have suffered a major transfer blow alongside Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who have all shown interest in Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.
This comes as the latest report claimed that Dembele prefers to move to the Ligue 1, where he would join Paris Saint Germain, than move to the EPL.
Dembele, 24, has been searching for a new club in the last week as the well known Barca fallout had all but ended his association with Xavi’s side.
He had refused to sign a new deal on new terms, which reportedly forced Xavi and others on the Barcelona board to call time on his playing career in Spain.
Despite an initial attempt to stay put this month, Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko has been working around the clock to find his client a new club, and despite vast Premier League interest, it seems as though Ligue 1 is the winger’s next journey.
Robin Bairner, in a statement via his Twitter handle, wrote, “Ousmane Dembele has agreed to sign with #PSG, according to Foot Mercato. The Ligue 1 side trying to find an agreement before tomorrow night but if they can’t, it’ll be done in the summer.”
