Chelsea suffer injury blow as striker is ruled out of season

A latest update revealed Chelsea striker, Armando Broja, has been ruled out for the rest of this season.

This comes as Broja suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The 21-year-old had a collision with Ezri Konsa during the match played in Abu Dhabi before holding his right knee and screaming in pain.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter, speaking after the game, said it didn’t look “positive” and that the injury was an “awkward one”.

A report via the Evening Standard revealed Broja faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

There are claims that the Albanian is due to have surgery on his knee to repair the torn ligament, with the striker then set to begin his rehabilitation programme ahead of a return to action, which is some months away.

So far this season, Broja has made 12 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, with 10 of them coming as a substitute and one goal to his name.
