Chelsea Striker Could Be Sold After Club World Cup Final

Alan Shearer has suggested that Chelsea could look to part ways with striker Nicolas Jackson following their Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market this summer, adding significant firepower to their squad. The Blues secured the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million and completed a £60 million deal for Joao Pedro from Brighton last week.

Delap made an instant impression, scoring his first goal for Chelsea during their Club World Cup group-stage win over ES Tunis. Meanwhile, Pedro has hit the ground running, delivering an impressive brace in the semi-final victory against Fluminense on Tuesday night.

In contrast, Jackson’s role has diminished. He was left on the bench during the 2-1 win over Palmeiras last week and drew criticism after a substitute appearance against Fluminense, where he opted to shoot rather than pass to teammate Cole Palmer for a clear scoring opportunity—frustrating both Palmer and fans alike.

Reports have linked Arsenal with a potential move for Jackson, with Mikel Arteta believed to be keen on strengthening his attacking options before the summer transfer window closes.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s final, Shearer shared his view that Chelsea may well decide to cash in on the £32 million signing once their Club World Cup campaign concludes, especially given their recent attacking reinforcements and Jackson’s struggles to cement his place in the squad.
