Chelsea still eager to sign highly rated defender before transfer deadline

Premier League side, Chelsea are still interested in signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde before the summer transfer window closes.

Chelsea have made just two signing this transfer window with the signature of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan the biggest one.

Lukaku joined his former club for a club record fee of £97.5m while Marcus Bettinelli joined from Fulham on a free transfer,

However, various reports have linked Chelsea to Jules Kounde as Thomas Tuchel wants to reshuffle his backline.

Though, Sevilla sporting director Monchi claimed earlier this month that there had been no official bid for their defender, latest report has indicated that Chelsea are not given up in their pursuit.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are still interested in Kounde, a move that might surprise their fans due to the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah.

The report added that Chelsea are eager to sell a defender before making their approach for Kounde with Kurt Zouma the favourite to leave Stamford Bridge.
