Chelsea star wants to leave permanently

The recent reports claimed Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen has told the club of his intentions to join German side Borussia Dortmund on a permanent deal this summer.

Recall that the 19-year-old left-back left Stamford Bridge for Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window and has since become a key player for the German side.

Maatsen scored his first-ever Champions League goal this week against Spanish side Atletico Madrid as Dortmund moved to the semi-finals, with Chelsea fans advising the club to keep him.

The left-back who once wanted to become a regular player at Chelsea before his loan transfer, has changed his  mind as he now desires to sign for Dortmund permanently, as reported by Metro UK.

The Dutchman is said to be ‘very comfortable’ at his loan club.

Meanwhile, Maatsen has a release clause valued at €35-40m which Dortmund would be willing to pay.

It is, however, unlikely that Chelsea would agree to a permanent deal especially after seeing his potentials.

The Blues would likely grant him another loan deal considering that they would not be playing in European tournaments next season.
