Chelsea set to offer this player a new deal

Chelsea are reportedly planning to hand Ian Maatsen a new deal at the club.

Recall that Maatsen was close to leaving Chelsea on summer transfer deadline day when the Blues accepted a £31.5m offer from Burnley for him.

The deal, however, fell through as Maatsen turned down the chance to return permanently to Burnley where he spent last season on loan.

Instead, he chose to stay put to fight for minutes at Stamford Bridge.

With the summer transfer window now closed, a recent report via Football London revealed that Chelsea are making moves towards renewing his contract.

The Dutch star during preseason showed that he’s a versatile player with quality, who is able to impress if given the chance.

He would have to be prepared to compete against Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer, who recently moved to Chelsea from Man City.
