Chelsea reportedly join race for Victor Osimhen

The latest report claimed that Chelsea has joined in the race for Nigeria international and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

This comes as Osimhen, who joined the Naples from Lille, has put up an impressive performance this season, having scored six goals and one assist from six games in all competitions.

Recall that Osimhen arrived at Napoli last summer and signed a contract to remain with the Serie A side until the summer of 2025, but his performances have seen top European clubs eye moves for him.

Manchester City are among the top clubs that have shown interest in the 22-year-old Nigerian striker, and journalist Ciro Venerato claimed that Chelsea are also in the race, telling Rai 2: “Osimhen is already worth triple, the Nigerian is liked by Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.”

Although the Nigerian striker had a stop-start 2020-21 season at Napoli due to injuries and coronavirus, he has managed to score ten goals and three assists from 24 appearances in his debut Serie A season.

We would have to wait till the next transfer window to see if any of the interested clubs will make a move to sign him by submitting a bid to Napoli.
