Chelsea reportedly join London rivals in the pursuit of highly rated defender
Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly set to go head to head in the transfer market for the signature of Brighton & Hove defender Ben White, according to reporter Duncan Castles.
Ben White has become one of the most sorts after talent in the Premier League after his impressive performance with Brighton & Hove caught the eye of other clubs.
His performance saw him make the England squad for the ongoing European Championship, and despite that he’s yet to make an appearance, clubs are willing to have him in their team next season.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the central defender this summer, with multiple reports claiming that the gunners have had at least one bid turned down by the Seagulls so far.
Chances that they will sign Ben White is fading away as Chelsea reportedly join the race.
Castles, while speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast on 3 July, noted that it’s always been reported that fans should expect a lot of competition for Ben White.
According to Castles, Brighton want a fee of over £50m for the player. Arsenal made the first offer, but Brighton rejected it.
With an agreement yet to be agreed by both clubs, Castles noted that there’s been interest from Manchester City, but he now understands Chelsea have notified the player of their interest in signing him.
