Chelsea Receives Major Boost in Pursuit of Star Striker
Chelsea has reportedly gained a major advantage in their bid to sign a top attacking target in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Blues are currently navigating a period of uncertainty following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure as head coach. Additionally, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are aware of the need to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.
Despite these challenges, Chelsea has made it clear that they aim to secure an experienced forward to compete with Nicolas Jackson for the 2024-25 season. Qualifying for a European competition, pending financial compliance, would further strengthen their position to enhance the squad.
Osimhen Interested in Chelsea Move
Chelsea has long been linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who was instrumental in securing Napoli’s first Serie A title in over 30 years last season.
It is expected that the Nigerian international might be available for transfer soon, especially if Napoli fails to qualify for European competitions.
Although Chelsea faces competition from Paris Saint-Germain and clubs from the Saudi Pro League, reports suggest that Osimhen prefers a move to Chelsea and has given an informal nod to the potential deal.
According to TEAMtalk, many aspects of a long-term contract with Osimhen are already in place, though some details still need negotiation.
Continuing Negotiations for Osimhen
Chelsea’s immediate priority is to secure the necessary funds to meet financial regulations by the next accounting date of June 30. Nevertheless, there is a mutual interest in finalizing the deal, likely for less than Osimhen’s €130m (£110.64m) release clause.
Chelsea is also considering including at least one player in the deal to reduce the overall cost, although it remains uncertain if Napoli would accept such an arrangement.
Despite Napoli’s disappointing season, Osimhen has performed well individually, contributing 17 goals in Serie A and the Champions League.
