Chelsea need to improve in all areas – Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to hit the ground running in his first season as the club’s boss.

However, Pochettino, who arrived at Stamford Bridge towards the end of last season and replaced temporary manager Frank Lampard has insisted that the club need to strengthen in all areas in the remainder of the summer transfer window.

So far Chelsea have offloaded £250 million worth of talent in the ongoing transfer window, which led to mass exit from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are keen to decrease their squad number after spending £600 million in the last two transfer windows.

While Pochettino is keen on trimming down his squad even further, the Argentine wants to strengthen the spine of the team.

When asked specifically about strengthening in midfield, Pochettino was quoted by Metro UK as saying: “No, I told you that we need to improve in all the areas.

“I am happy with the midfield but we also need to improve this area.”
