Chelsea manager speaks on Mendy’s performance vs Brentford
Chelsea goalie Edouard Mendy was one of the stars of the moment during the International break as he helped his home country make it to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
However, Mendy, in his first match for the Blues after the international break, struggled to put up an impressive form vs Brentford in the EPL.
This comes as he allowed four goals into the net as the visitors won three points against Chelsea in a game that ended in a 4-1 scoreline.
Reacting to the Senegalese performance, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in a post-match statement, said, “Actually, I have to watch it again. I think it is an unthankful game for a goalkeeper. Also, for him, he has a lot to process. That’s why he goes and plays these tight matches – a rematch of the African Cup Final to qualify for the Qatar World Cup. He does another penalty shootout, and he can feel it. He is part of the team, and unfortunately, he couldn’t help us like he did in the first match.”
Chelsea are now five points behind Arsenal with the Gunners having a chance to close the gap even further depending on the outcome of their match vs Crystal Palace.
