Chelsea are said to have picked Christopher Nkunku as their main striker under the club’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

A report via the Guardian revealed the Blues believe Nkunku is capable of leading the attack if required

This comes after they confirmed former Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager on Monday.

Pochettino is saddled with two tasks, which include trimming down the Blues squad and making a few key additions, with a goalkeeper, midfielder and striker as his priorities.

Inter’s Andre Onana and Brentford’s David Raya have been linked to Chelsea, who are ready to let Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy leave this summer.

The Blues also have their eyes on Sporting defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who could partner Enzo Fernandez in the midfield.

For a striker, Pochettino reportedly wants Lautaro Martinez and Napoli top scorer Victor Osimhen as possible options.

However, if the two are too expensive to sign, The Guardian reported that Chelsea will not make any panic signing and would instead rely on their incoming attacker Nkunku, who has a long-standing deal to move Chelsea from RB Leipzig.

Nkunku scored 20 goals in the German league and created 13 assists last season.
