Chelsea issued warning ahead of game vs Real Madrid

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has sent a message to Chelsea ahead of their Champions League clash with Spanish side Real Madrid on Wednesday.

According to Merson, the game would be an easy win for Real Madrid if the Blues approach the game the same way they did in their Premier League game with Wolves on Saturday.

Recall that Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Wanderers courtesy of a first-half goal scored by Matheus Nunes.

The former Gunners star noted that the West London side were defeated because they lacked urgency in their game.

Should the Blues maintain the same pattern against the Los Blancos on Wednesday they could suffer a heavier defeat.

“My only benefit of the doubt is they’re waiting for Wednesday night,” he told Sky Sports.

“That is the only thing I can think of. If they turn up like that on Wednesday night, it will be pointless going to the second leg. It could be a cricket score.”
