Chelsea in race for another goalkeeper
Even though Chelsea is home to two popular goalkeepers in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, a recent report has revealed that the Blues are in the race to sign another goalkeeper.
The latest report has claimed that the Blues are interested in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Since joining the Catalans in July 2014 from Borussia Monchengladbach, the 29-year-old goalie has made 300 appearances, including 22 outings in all competitions for the Spanish club this term.
However, Ter Stegen’s future at Barcelona has been called into question in recent months and there are claims he could leave the club soon.
Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are among the list of clubs who are ready to sign him.
According to El Nacional, there is also genuine interest from Chelsea, with the Blues prepared to offer up to €60m (£50.4m) for his signature during next summer’s transfer window.
The report claimed that the west London club’s owner Roman Abramovich is not currently happy with Edouard Mendy’s performances and is keen to replace the Senegal international.
Ter Stegen has had tough times proving himself at the club level during the 2021-22 season, keeping just six clean sheets in 22 appearances in all competitions and conceding 28 times.
