Chelsea goalkeeper joins Strasbourg

Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders is the latest player to exit Stamford Bridge this summer.

The recent report revealed Penders has made a switch to Blues’ sister club Strasbourg.

The 19-year-old who is highly rated at Chelsea was part of the Blues squad manager Enzo Maresca took to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, which they eventually won.

However, Penders has only made 26 senior appearances with the Blues, making a loan move the best for him.

Strasbourg owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, who are also Chelsea owners have emerged as the primary destination for young players to go on loan from the West London club.

Penders’ move is a plus for him as he would get more game time given Strasbourg have qualified for European football this season.

Replacing the Blues former main goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who joined Bournemouth for £25m this summer after winning Strasbourg’s player of the year award, will also be difficult.

However, Penders has a future prospects of reaching the highest level within the Chelsea/Strasbourg rank.

In future and with the right experience, Pender could get the chance to be the Blues number one at the back.
