Chelsea Eye Watkins as Osimhen Deal Stalls – Report

Chelsea have reportedly approached Aston Villa regarding a potential move for striker Ollie Watkins, as doubts grow over their ability to secure primary target Victor Osimhen.
According to Football Transfers, the Blues are prepared to meet Villa’s £60 million valuation if talks with Napoli over Osimhen collapse.
Strengthening the centre-forward position is a priority for incoming manager Enzo Maresca, who seeks greater depth and competition for Nicolas Jackson. With uncertainty surrounding Christopher Nkunku’s future, Chelsea are actively exploring top-tier attacking options to bolster their squad.
The club had shown serious interest in Osimhen last summer, but a deal never materialised—largely due to the Nigerian forward’s substantial wage demands, believed to be around £250,000 per week.
Those financial expectations are reportedly still an obstacle, despite Osimhen being expected to leave Napoli permanently after a loan stint at Galatasaray.
As a contingency, Chelsea are now considering Watkins, whose consistent goal-scoring form in the Premier League has drawn attention. The England international has proven himself as a reliable and versatile striker under Unai Emery at Aston Villa.
While Watkins may not have been Chelsea’s first choice, the club appears willing to meet Villa’s asking price to ensure they secure a proven forward this summer. With negotiations ongoing and the transfer window fast approaching, Chelsea’s pursuit of a new striker remains a key storyline to watch.
