Chelsea Eye Reunion with Former Goalkeeper as Part of Enzo Maresca’s Summer Signings

Chelsea are reportedly considering one of their former goalkeepers as a potential summer transfer target.

With Enzo Maresca now leading the team, Chelsea’s recruitment efforts are focused on acquiring fresh talent ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Following the free transfer signing of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, Chelsea may sell one of their current players to improve their position with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Maresca is reportedly open to adding a new goalkeeper to his squad, despite his confidence in Robert Sanchez’s potential and Djordje Petrovic’s impressive performance in the latter half of last season.

If Chelsea pursue a new stopper, they are likely to target someone in their early twenties, with a former player potentially in their sights.

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea are considering re-signing Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

Bulka was part of Chelsea’s academy system from 2016 to 2019, making 31 appearances for various youth teams. Despite his promising start, he did not break into the first team and eventually transferred to Paris Saint-Germain, where he made only two appearances.

Bulka, now 24, had a breakout season with Nice, starting all 34 of their Ligue 1 fixtures and helping the team achieve a fifth-place finish while conceding just 29 goals, four fewer than champions PSG. With two years remaining on his contract, Nice will likely want to retain Bulka, but his future remains uncertain.

The report suggests that Bulka is seeking to quadruple his wages at Nice to approximately £44,000 per week, a demand that Nice may not meet.

If Bulka were to leave the Allianz Riviera, he would likely aim to join a team where he can secure a first-team position given his limited professional game time.

To date, Bulka has made 64 appearances in senior football and has earned one cap for Poland. His desire for a more prominent role could make a return to Chelsea an appealing option for both parties.
