Chelsea emerge EPL top club with biggest wage
Chelsea have been named the club with the biggest wage bill for this season in the English Premier League.
The West London side have endured a miserable season which saw them drop from the top four on the league table to finishing in the bottom half of the log.
Irrespective of their poor form, the club’s wage bill is estimated to have cost £215.6million, which is almost one-eighth of the entire division’s spend of £1.9billion.
Manchester United come second with a total spend of £213.3m as they managed to get Cristiano Ronaldo’s £380,000-per-week salary off the books in January.
As compiled by the sports investment fund Alliance, EPL Champions Manchester City emerge third with an outlay of £186.2m.
While Liverpool with £164.6m, Arsenal with £110.4m and Tottenham Hotspur with £110.2m make up the top six.
Chelsea are hoping to slim down their squad when this season is over especially as there is no Champions League football for them next season.
