Chelsea defender takes decision on move to Man Utd
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has turned down any move to Man Utd.
The report via Manchester Evening News revealed that the player’s camp held discussions with the Red Devils over a possible move.
Rudiger had been targetted by Man Utd ahead of the summer transfer market when his contract with the Blues must have expired, giving him a chance to leave for free.
However, it appears the German defender is focused on signing for a club that is almost certain to qualify for the Champions League next season.
And currently, Man United doesn’t look like that club as they are sitting in the fifth place, three points behind Tottenham, having played the same number of games, but has a significantly worse goal difference.
The news is a big blow for the Red Devils, who are desperate to bring in a top central defender.
They signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in 2021, but the Frenchman has struggled with injuries and missed 15 matches.
On the other hand, Harry Maguire has endured a difficult season, while the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are out of favour and are likely to be sold at the end of the season.
