Chelsea Could Sell Key Player for £60m Despite Ongoing Squad Gaps

Chelsea may consider selling winger Noni Madueke this summer, even as the club faces a shortage of attacking options.

With Mykhailo Mudryk currently suspended and Jadon Sancho having returned to Manchester United following a loan spell, the Blues are already thin on the wings.

Although Brazilian prospect Estevão Willian is set to arrive, his readiness for Premier League football remains uncertain. Even if he adapts quickly, Chelsea would still be short of depth in wide positions.

Amid this backdrop, reports suggest that Arsenal, Napoli, and Newcastle have all expressed interest in signing Madueke.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea would be open to offers in the region of €60 million (£51 million) for the England international. Arsenal, in particular, are believed to have stepped up their pursuit after missing out on Nico Williams, who is likely to join Barcelona.

Despite not actively placing Madueke on the market, Chelsea reportedly view him as expendable if the right offer arrives. Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna is also said to be in London, potentially to explore a deal involving the 22-year-old.

Chelsea’s willingness to sell a first-team player to a direct Premier League rival highlights the club’s unconventional transfer approach in recent years. While it may surprise some fans, the Blues’ hierarchy has shown a strong focus on financial pragmatism and long-term squad planning—even if it means difficult short-term decisions.
