Chelsea confirm worrying update about midfielder
Chelsea in a recently released statement via the club’s website have confirmed that their midfielder and Argentina international Enzo Fernandez will be out for the remainder of the season.
The Blues in the update revealed Fernandez had undergone a successful surgery on a groin issue.
Fernandez is expected to begin a period of rehabilitation immediately, meaning he wouldn’t be available for the rest of the 2023/24 season.
During his rehabilitation, the Argentine midfielder will work with the club’s medical department at Cobham.
This is a major blow on manager Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side especially as it is coming ahead of their weekend game against Aston Villa.
Chelsea form this season have been marred with injury woes involving many of their key players.
The Blues who are currently at the 9th spot on the league table would once again be ending the season without a trophy and a chance of playing European football next campaign.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been handed an injury boost as their star player Cole Palmer is expected to be available for their faceoff with Aston Villa.
Recall that Palmer was missing in action during the Blues humiliating defeat to his former club Man City.
