Chelsea Close to Securing Another Centre-Back: Just £6m Away

Published

on

Chelsea is reportedly just £6 million shy of finalizing a deal for another new centre-back this summer, following the recent addition of free agent Tosin Adarabioyo.

Adarabioyo, who joined from Fulham, opted for Chelsea despite offers from other clubs and the chance to renew his contract at Fulham.

Chelsea’s hunt for defensive reinforcements doesn’t stop with Adarabioyo.

The club is also eyeing another centre-back, though this one is expected to join Chelsea’s sister club, Strasbourg, as part of the BlueCo network. While still speculative, discussions are underway.

According to The Daily Mirror, Chelsea has made an initial bid of around £14 million for Aaron Anselmino.

However, Boca Juniors, Anselmino’s current club, are holding out for his £20 million release clause. This young South American talent represents another strategic move by Chelsea to secure promising players early in their careers.

Chelsea’s strategy appears to be twofold: developing young talent either for the first team or for future profitable transfers.

However, this approach comes with risks, including potential discontent within Chelsea’s own youth academy at Cobham. The club seems confident in their strategy and its long-term benefits.

Additionally, Chelsea’s aggressive pursuit of young talent reflects their commitment to building a sustainable future.

By investing in promising players globally, they aim to maintain a competitive edge in both domestic and international competitions.
