Chelsea close to losing target striker to Liverpool

Chelsea have been focused on bolstering their squad under manager Enzo Maresca in the summer transfer window.
Following their victory at the FIFA club world cup, the Blues have been all out to welcome new players ahead of a new season to compete for the Premiere League title, among others.
In order to do that, Chelsea are in need of a top striker who can score goals.
While Joao Pedro has been impressive for the Blues, scoring three goals in his two starts, two against Fluminense and one against PSG, to help the Blues win Club World Cup, there speculations that he would be utilised in other areas.
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who has failed to live up to expectation is also on the verge of leave Stamford Bridge.
This means Chelsea might be needing another striker this summer.
Unfortunately for the Blues, their interest in Hugo Ektike may have suffered a major set back as he is on his way to joining rivals Liverpool.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ekitike to Etihad is ‘here we go’.
The deal is in place for a fee over €90m for the French striker to join Liverpool Eintracht Frankfurt, potentially reaching €95m. It is a six-year contract, valid until June 2031.
