Chelsea bring down asking price for this midfielder amid interest from Man Utd

Chelsea have lowered their asking price for Mason Mount this summer amid interest from Manchester United.

The Blues decided after Mouny restated that he would not extend a contract to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have seen their bids for Mount being turned down by Chelsea.

Their second bid was around £45 million with £5 million of add-ons, which was short of Chelsea’s initial £75m asking price.

Football transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano reported that Mount has told the Blues following the Red Devils’ second bid that he has absolutely no intention of extending his deal at the club.

His current contract expires in 2024 and he could sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs from January 1st, which means the Blues could lose him for free next summer.

Metro reported that the Blues are now willing to accept a fee closer to £60m but that would be the upper limit of where Man United would be prepared to go.

This is because the Red Devils have other options in midfield and given Man United’s budget of around £120m, they cannot afford to spend over half of that on a midfielder.
