Chelsea block midfielder from leaving

Chelsea are keen on keeping their midfielder Conor Gallagher at Stamford Bridge as a recent report revealed they have turned down West Ham’s £40m bid to sign him this summer transfer window.

There were reports on Monday that the Blues had put Gallagher up for sale as they considered him surplus to requirements at the club.

West Ham were among the first clubs to make the first move, submitting a substantial bid worth an initial £37 million plus £3 million in add-ons.

The Hammers manager David Moyes is set to keen on adding Gallagher to his squad to help ease the blow of losing their captain Declan Rice who recently joined Arsenal this summer.

A report via Evening Standard, however, revealed that the Blues rejected West Ham’s bid, likely because it does not match the £45 million Everton wanted to pay for the England star back in January.

Recall that the Blues had accepted Everton’s proposal but the transfer never happened as Gallagher refused to move to Goodison Park.
