Carabao League final: Tuchel reacts to Lukaka’s disallowed goal vs Liverpool
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has reacted to the disallowed goal scored by Romelu Lukaku in the Carabao League final vs Liverpool on Sunday.
Tuchel stressed that he was frustrated by the decision to disallow Lukaku’s goal as offside.
Some minutes after the start of extra time, the Belgian striker fired the ball into the bottom corner after being played through on goal, but the assistant flagged it as offside.
This led to an argument as the standard view showed that the Belgian looked level with the last defender, but VAR ruled that the Blues striker had moved marginally too early.
After the Blues had eventually lost to Liverpool in a penalty shootout, Tuchel stressed that “there are bad feelings” about how the goal was chalked off using technology.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Tuchel said: “Football can be a brilliant game and it was a brilliant game, no worries and no regrets.
“We gave everything and it was a brilliant match of football. The disallowed goal for Romelu is a very close call – there are bad feelings about this call.
“You need a bit of luck, we scored three times, had big chances, they had big chances, It was a fair result all the way to have a draw.”
