Carabao League: Chelsea to be without this player for the second time
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given injury updates ahead of the Blues faceoff with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup.
Tuchel revealed the Blues would be without Edouard Mendy on Wednesday night.
The Blues manager revealed that Mendy didn’t train with the rest of the team, having sustained injuries during their game vs Zenit St. Petersburg in the Uefa Champions League.
Mendy had missed Chelsea’s Premier League 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend with Kepa Arrizabalaga playing the role of the goalkeeper.
He is, however, expected to be available when the Blues play Man City in the Premier League in the coming weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Aston Villa clash, Tuchel said: “Mendy cannot play [against Villa], he was not in training so far.
“We try to do everything for Saturday and to reintegrate him tomorrow into individual training and Thursday’s team training.”
With this latest update, Kepa is likely to resume as the Blues goalkeeper on Wednesday night, having performed against Tottenham over the weekend.
