Chelsea attacker, Armando Broja, in a recent statement has opened up why he chose to join move to Stamford Bridge from Tottenham Hotspur.

Broja, who was at Southampton on loan last season scored six goals in 32 matches and has so far this season featured in six matches across all competitions for the Blues.

The Albania international moved to Chelsea in 2009 after a two years spell in Tottenham’s academy and made his debut for Chelsea in the 2019-2020 season.

Speaking on his decision to join Chelsea from Spurs, Broja told The Players’ Tribune: “I remember going to a tournament. The Tottenham [Hotspur] scout actually came to watch another boy.

“I happened to obviously play well in that tournament and I got top goalscorer and I got the best player at the tournament, so they approached my mum and dad before I even knew about it.

“We moved over to the other side of the pitch and played the other team.

“We won 12-0, I think, and I scored 9. Straight after that, the two Chelsea guys came over and said, ‘wow, we want you’.

“When they said that, I did not think of anything else, I just wanted to join Chelsea.

“So eventually that obviously did happen, and I joined Chelsea at the end of U9s, the start of U10s, so I have been there since then.”
