Brighton in a recent statement have revealed how Chelsea paid to sign Graham Potter.

The Blues paid Brighton £21.5m in compensation before they completed moves for Potter and his backroom team who joined them as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel last September.

This was made public after the south coast club published their latest financial results on Wednesday.

The change in the dugout is listed under “post balance sheet events” which is a record fee paid by a Premier League team for a head coach.

It is said to be the second biggest of all time, only behind Bayern Munich’s £22m payout to bring in Julian Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Potter penned a five-year contract after he arrived at Stamford Bridge worth about £60m.

He is, however, yet to impress at the club as the Blues are currently seated at the 10th spot on the league table while some fans have in the past called for his sack.
