Back to his root: Chelsea confirm Silva’s next club
Ahead of the summer transfer window Chelsea have confirmed that their veteran defender Thiago Silva will leave the Stamford Bridge at the end of the season to sign for Fluminense.
Recall that Silva had revealed he would be leaving the Blues when his contract expires this season.
He, however, didn’t disclose his next destination, fueling rumours of him joining a Premier League club to remain in close contact with his two boys who play at Chelsea academy.
The Blues have now debunked the rumours with a recent update via their website on Tuesday.
Chelsea in a message revealed that Silva who played at the club for four years will depart after their final game of the Premier League season against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge and re-join Brazilian club Fluminense.
The Blues also revealed Silva will join his new teammates early after signing a two-year contract with the Brazilian club.
According to the reports, Silva will commence training with Fluminense before his registration transferring on July 1.
The 39-year-old during his time at the West London club made more than 150 appearances for the Blues and won the three different titles with them; the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup
