Azpilicueta gives injury update

Chelsea captain and defender Cesar Azpilicueta has sent a message to the club’s fans as he gives an update on his injury.

Recall that Azpilicueta suffered an injury in Chelsea’s weekend game vs Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard was later taken to the hospital where he has since been receiving treatment.

Azpilicueta in a statement via his social media timeline revealed he is on the way to recovery.

He wrote: “Hi everyone!

‘Thank you all for your love and messages of support! My family and I would like to thank everyone who has been looking after me since yesterday’s incident.

‘From the Chelsea Football Club medical team, to teammates and opponents, to St Mary’s and Cleveland Hospital and all staff members and doctors: a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart.

‘Now, time to recover and I will see you soon on the pitch!’

The Spaniard will be unavailable when Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
