Arteta gives update on Saka playing against Man City
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on the possibility of having Bukayo Saka available for their weekend match against Man City.
Arteta revealed he is hopeful that Saka can play against Manchester City on Sunday despite sustaining an injury against Lens in the Champions League.
The attacker was forced off the field during the first half of the Champions League clash on Tuesday night to put his participation against the reigning champions this weekend in doubt.
“He is in contention, we’ll see how he progresses from here to Sunday,” the boss said. “Obviously he had to leave the pitch [against RC Lens], that’s never good news, but let’s see how he recovers,” Arteta said during his pre-match press statement.
Saka will be hopeful that his run of appearing in a club-record 87 successive Premier League matches continues on the weekend, having scored in both of Arsenal’s last two home games against Manchester City.
