Arsenal Weigh £55m Move for Premier League Winger as Stats Highlight Surprise Transfer Option

As Arsenal explore wide attacking options in the transfer market, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has unexpectedly emerged as a player who fits the profile Mikel Arteta is looking for.
While the £55 million valuation may initially seem steep, Madueke’s development over the past 18 months makes the interest more logical. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January 2023 as a promising but unpolished 20-year-old, the winger has steadily grown into a more consistent performer.
Despite a turbulent environment under multiple Chelsea managers—first Graham Potter, then Frank Lampard—Madueke found his rhythm under Mauricio Pochettino. Though opportunities were limited in his first full season, he made the most of them, contributing five goals and two assists with a strong output rate of 0.60 goal contributions per 90 minutes.
In the 2024/25 season, Madueke featured more regularly, registering seven goals and three assists in the Premier League. Across over 2,000 minutes and 32 appearances, he averaged 0.44 goals and assists per 90—still a commendable return for a young winger continuing to refine his end product.
When compared to Arsenal’s current wide options and other targets like Rodrygo, Madueke’s output and Premier League experience provide a compelling case. His pace, directness, and technical ability could offer Arsenal much-needed depth and versatility on the flanks.
While no formal bid has been made, Madueke remains a player to watch as Arteta and sporting director Edu shape Arsenal’s summer business.
