Arsenal urged to sign this Lazio midfielder

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson in a recent statement has urged his former club to make a move for Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

According to Merson Sergej is the best midfielder in the Italian Seria A league.

While Arsenal have completed some major signing in the summer in the persons of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, Fabio Vieira from Porto, Brazilian winger, Marquinhos and goalkeeper Matt Turner.

The Gunners still plan to sign new players this summer as they hope to improve their squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

According to the report, the Gunners are now set to submit a new bid for Milinkovic-Savic after a £47.2m offer was rejected by Lazio while they’ve also tabled £30m for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.

While Merson wants the Gunners to sign either James Ward-Prowse or Tielemans, he, however, prefers a move for Milinkovic-Savic.

“Youri Tielemans would fit nicely at Arsenal if James Ward-Prowse takes the soft option and stays at Southampton,’ Merson told the Daily Star.

“Leicester’s Tielemans would tick the box for Arsenal. He’d be a decent alternative. But Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is the player I would go for.

“And I think Savic is a lovely player. A really top-drawer player. The way he played for Lazio last season I personally think he is the best midfield player in Italy.”
