Arsenal are facing a significant challenge in their efforts to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with the player’s wage demands reportedly exceeding the club’s financial expectations.

The Gunners have revived their interest in the Brazilian international after missing out on top target Nico Williams, who now appears set for a move to Barcelona.

Rodrygo’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu is uncertain following a difficult 2024/25 season, during which he saw reduced playing time due to increased competition in the attacking line-up. As a result, speculation surrounding his potential departure has grown, and Arsenal have been among the clubs monitoring his situation closely.

According to Diario AS, Arsenal initially prioritised the signing of Nico Williams to bolster their forward options, but with that deal now unlikely, the club has turned its attention back to Rodrygo. However, the 23-year-old’s salary expectations are proving to be a stumbling block. The Gunners are reportedly cautious about disrupting their existing wage structure and may hesitate to meet the financial terms required to secure the Brazilian’s signature.

With Mikel Arteta eager to reinforce his squad this summer, Arsenal continue to explore alternative attacking options. Rodrygo remains a player of interest, but unless a compromise on wages is found, the North London club may be forced to look elsewhere as they aim to add firepower ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
