Arsenal Set to Sanction Major Transfer Following £51m Pedro Neto Agreement

Mikel Arteta is optimistic about a significant financial boost with Pedro Neto’s imminent transfer to Chelsea.

Arsenal stands to benefit from Pedro Neto’s confirmed move from Wolves to Chelsea, a player they have been linked with for several years.

Despite consistent interest, injuries have hindered Arsenal’s ability to pursue Neto more seriously.

While Tottenham has also expressed interest in Neto, he is set to join Chelsea for a reported fee of £51.4 million, plus an additional £2.6 million in add-ons, for the 2024/25 season.

Although the Gunners are looking to strengthen their attacking options, their immediate focus remains on securing a new midfielder.

Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad is currently the preferred target, with ongoing discussions and contact made with the player’s camp.

Arsenal is also aiming to facilitate more outgoing transfers, having already seen Emile Smith Rowe leave the club permanently.

ddie Nketiah is likely to follow suit, with Arsenal open to a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy for around £25 million, as Marseille continues to show interest following two rejected bids.

Reiss Nelson, another homegrown talent, is also a potential departure, with Leicester City initially interested, although financial constraints have made that deal unlikely.

In contrast, Wolves are now in a position to sign Nelson permanently, as they seek to bolster their attacking lineup after identifying Ajax winger Carlos Forbes as a replacement for Neto.

The financial gain from Neto’s transfer will provide a substantial boost to Arteta and Edu, particularly after Arteta’s candid remarks about the current transfer landscape.

He noted, “It’s clear that the market is slower this year. New rules have made clubs more cautious, and it’s more challenging to conduct business as we have in previous seasons. We’ve adapted, and we aim to enhance our squad to be more competitive.”

As the transfer window progresses, Arsenal remains focused on both maximizing their outgoings and strategically strengthening their squad
