Arsenal Set Price Limit for Real Madrid Star After Transfer Request

Arsenal have reportedly set a firm transfer limit for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who is no longer considered “untouchable” at the Spanish club.

According to reports from Spain, Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have informed Los Blancos of the maximum fee the Gunners are prepared to offer this summer — amid growing indications that the Brazilian may be ready to move on.

Rodrygo has emerged as Arsenal’s top left-wing target following the collapse of their pursuit of Nico Williams, who is closing in on a switch to Barcelona. In a significant development, Spanish media claimed earlier this week that Rodrygo has now “formally requested to leave” Real Madrid during the current transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously hinted that a move would only become realistic if Rodrygo explicitly told the club and new manager Xabi Alonso of his intention to depart. “The only way is if Rodrygo goes to Xabi Alonso and says, ‘I want to leave the club,’” Romano explained. “If that happens, the door to negotiations will open.”

Rodrygo’s decision to push for an exit may now prompt Madrid to consider offers, with Arsenal looking to capitalise. However, the Gunners have reportedly made it clear they will not be drawn into a bidding war, and have placed a ceiling on what they’re willing to spend.

While Real Madrid are yet to publicly respond to the player’s request, the situation could develop rapidly. Should negotiations progress, Rodrygo’s arrival would represent a marquee addition for Arsenal — bringing Champions League pedigree, elite attacking flair, and a long-term solution to their left wing.
